How can I eat honeycomb?

Eat it whole and on the go

The most efficient way to eat honeycomb is also the easiest. Simply open and consume it whole. The wax is entirely edible and has additional health benefits. No need to mess with what we believe is already the perfect snack...just open and enjoy!

Class up your charcuterie

Take your charcuterie board to the next level. Gather an assortment of crackers, aged meats, nuts and dried fruits. Then place a stack of honeycomb directly to the board, allowing the honey to pool into the nearby cheeses. Honeycomb is especially fantastic with creamy cheeses like blue and chevre.

Top toast

The most international way to consume honeycomb is also the easiest. Rather than butter (or even on top of butter), spread honeycomb over your morning toast to kick off your day right.

Add it to yogurt

Try this as an alternative to granola. Where granola tends to have a lot of added sugars, honeycomb's sweetness is all-natural and it gives a similar texture of crunch as the granola. Remember, when selecting yogurt, go for a more plain style, such as unsweetened Greek yogurt. When you add honeycomb, you get a natural sweetness that is still satisfying – but way healthier!

Stir it into hot beverages

Rather than pour another spoonful (or half cup) of sweetener into your preferred hot beverage, try adding a cube of honeycomb. Drop it in and stir until it melts. Do note that depending on the temperature of your beverage you may have a thin film of wax floating on top...it is OK to consume the wax. However, we typically use a paper tea filter for easy cleanup. It's entirely up to you!

Incorporate into a fruit salad

Arrange fresh, sliced peaches around soft burrata cheese. Top the burrata with a hefty chunk of honeycomb to bind the fruit and creaminess together. Any other seasonal fruits work equally well.

The health benefits of honey are well documented and far-reaching. We invite you to experience the health benefits of this ancient superfood...

Increased Energy & Brain Function

Due to the vitamins, minerals, and natural sugars (glucose) found in raw honeycomb, this gives you a completely natural, long-lasting boost of energy.

Lowers Cholesterol & Supports Blood Pressure Levels

Because raw honeycomb is a rich source of phenols and other antioxidant compounds, it is linked to lowering cholesterol and supporting blood pressure levels.

Supports Gut Health & PH Balance

All-natural honeycomb helps to improve the overall health and function of your digestive system by restoring the presence of good bacteria and balancing pH levels.

Cue up your immune system

Honeycomb's thick consistency along with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties can also help relieve sore throats, bronchitis and even pneumonia.

Supports Healthy Inflammatory Response

Royal jelly found in the honeycomb is a natural anti-inflammatory and carries antibacterial properties.

Allergy Relief

Honeycomb contains pollen, which can alleviate asthma and allergies, such as hay fever.

Loaded with Vitamins & Minerals

According to the USDA, natural vitamins and minerals in raw honeycomb include: calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and potassium. Raw honeycomb also contains Vitamins C, B6 and B12, A, E, and D.

Reduces Free Radicals & Protect Your LiveR

Studies have shown eating honeycomb can help support your liver and neutralize toxins. Antioxidants such as polyphenols help to protect the liver and also helps protect your body from cell damage due to free radicals.

Promotes Better Sleep

Raw honeycomb promotes the proper balance of sugars for your liver and helps to produce the hormones necessary for achieving better sleep. It also triggers serotonin, the hormone for improving one's mood.

Can you eat the wax?

Yes! Honeycomb is entirely edible and how honey was consumed for generations. Eat the entire cube...honey, wax, and all the nutritious benefits that come along with it. Eating and chewing honeycomb may help with oral health, providing relief from toothaches and helping to cleanse gums. Experts believe that the antibacterial benefits of honey are the main reason chewing the wax is so healthy

“It’s completely raw, unaltered honey and it’s pretty amazing. You just throw the whole thing in your mouth, there's wax in there, but you just eat the whole thing and it tastes amazing.”

- Kirsten F., Triathlete

Why is this more expensive than the honey I buy at the store?

We source the cleanest comb in the world to ensure the highest integrity and fullest benefits from our honeycomb. Unfortunately, nearly 80% of honey is fraudulent -- exposed to pesticides and/or blended with other syrups. By sourcing honeycomb globally and from multi-generational beekeepers, we can maintain our quality with confidence. This effort does not translate to commodity prices.

“I've switched over to honeycomb in lieu of my afternoon latte "pick me ups." For the same price, I get clean energy, beat the afternoon brain fog, and avoid any post-coffee crash.

- Lauren W., Marketing Executive & Mother of 2 (both under 3 years old)

What about the bees?

We LOVE bees. We actually work with generational beekeepers that only source 20% of the comb, which encourages healthy hive activity for sustainable beekeeping.

“We are proud to collaborate with Pass the Honey and a team that brings a persistent integrity to creating a product that is not only beneficial to eaters, but is also grounded in healthy landscapes. We look forward to continuing to support Pass the Honey as they invest in landscape health in their supply system.”

- Terra Genesis International

What about the packaging?

Our ecological footprint is very important to us. We currently use recycled PET(1), which not only diverts plastics from landfills, but also saves water and electricity -- universally recyclable in all US communities. To minimize our waste even further, we are working on compostable packaging with the best and brightest in the food industry.

Equally important as our relationships with bees and beekeepers is the company’s aim to evolve ecological diversity beyond what’s perceived possible. This includes our role as stewards of land conservation and pollinator habitat."

- Douglas Raggio, Founder

Some Words From Our Happy Customers

“Pass the Honey is a product unlike any other that I have tried. It’s unique packaging makes it easy to add to a variety of beverages and snacks- anytime of the day! Personally, I have loved it paired with greek yogurt in the morning, adding additional prebiotics, for a gut-healthy start to the day. It also is the perfect snack on its own for a sweet treat with the added bonus of a natural unprocessed energy source. I can’t recommend this product highly enough for its delicious taste and diverse health benefits!

- Ellyn A. Smith, MD, General Surgeon

“I like it because it's a sweet treat that my daughter can have that's one hundred percent natural, so I love that lately she's been asking me for this instead of like actual candy bars and things like that. And it comes in these great little packages that kids love and when she brings it to school in her lunch, her friends always want to trade. They are a great way to have something special on the go and have a little sugar when you want it but know that it's good for you at the same time.”

- Anna & Olivia C., Photographer, Mother & Daughter, Anna Clevenger Photography

It's a huge immune booster it contains a lot of vitamins and antioxidants, it has anti-inflammatory benefits, it's good for the heart, it's good for the liver, it's good for the brain and some say it even helps you with sleep which we really need that to keep our immune system going. Put it in your tea or your cheese platter or you can just eat it by itself and it's really good. I think one of these a day will definitely keep the doctor away.”

- Dr. Atousa B., M.D. Dermatology, Brandish Clinic

I love this honey! So easy to use and no mess. My kids also love it plus it gives me the perfect serving. I highly recommend this!
Allison F

Great tasting honey! I have never had honeycomb before so I was curious and a little skeptical at first. But the honeycomb is a game changer. It takes it up a whole other level by adding great natural texture and chew. Must try.

EPG

Not only is the packaging beautiful and unique, but far more importantly, the honey is sublime! We have been looking for raw honeycomb for years, and we've finally found the perfect product! I don't like honey because it always tasted fake and overly produced - this honeycomb is so pure and wonderful, I can't recommend it highly enough!
Rob M

“Love this product, convenient and all natural. My favorite is simply putting it on a saltine cracker, the perfect combination of salty and sweet.”
Shane M
